opportunity for (even more!) credit
Ordinarily, I don't really cover politics in my English courses (unless there is a linguistic lesson to be learned/ original here)
until we get to rhetoric and public speaking. However, today's news is
historically big, and I want to know what you understand about reading
an important nonfiction text. So, if you'd like to receive more credit,
please summarize the following document in 3-5 sentences in a comment
to this post.

So, what I think some of this means is that people want the president to be investigated, also they want others who might have been witnessing what the president has been doing and would be asked questions.
ReplyDeleteThe House of representatives is in process of trying to impeach the president. The president has allegedly been doing things that he's isn't supposed to be doing meaning abusing his power. Therefore, the president will be put under investigation to prove that the allegations against him are true, which will result in his impeachment.
ReplyDeleteWhat I believe this means was that the House of Representatives is trying to impeach Donald Trump. Donald trump has been abusing his power for stuff he is not supposed to be doing. So the people think Donald Trump should be put under investigation. They also think the chair of Permanent Select Committee should have an open hearing to question witnesses.
ReplyDeletePeople want to put Donald Trump under investigation. The people want to do this because there have been witness that have said that Trump has been abusing the power he has been given and not doing anything good with it. Also the House of representatives is in process of impeaching Donald Trump. They will impeach him only if the investigation comes out to be true.
ReplyDeleteThe House of Representatives are trying to impeach Donald trump. They also want to investigate him. People believe that Donald trump is abusing his power as president.
ReplyDeleteJuan Ramirez writes: So what I kind of understood about the document is that Donald Trump is being impeached. The document says how the process of impeachment will be and what will happen to Trump. The Committee is also making sure that what's happening during the investigation is available to the public so that they're informed.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I've heard is that Donald Trump is being questioned about his actions that seem to be alarming to others. For example his call with the Ukrainian government against Joe Biden, doing things for his own personal gain, and misdemeanor. I feel like even with this impeachment Donald Trump will still remain as our president because taking his right as president is too risky and the question of how much power the president gets will be brought into question.
ReplyDeleteThe House of Representatives are trying to prove that President Donald Trump is abusing his power. They have allowed the Permanent Select Committee to start an investigation and have an open hearing. The document then goes into detail about how the hearing will go, and how people can request to speak. The House of Representatives is really trying to impeach President Trump.
